Potala Palace, Tibet

 Lhasa literally means "place of the gods"is one of the highest cities in the world. The city has been the religious andadminstrative capital of Tibet since the mid-17th century. It contains many culturally significant Tibetan Buddhist sites such as the Potala Palace, Jorkhang Temple and Norbulinka Palace.






Tibet journeys can be of a spiritual nature because of its magnificent monasteries, remote retreats and pilgrim paths. For others trekking in Tibet and taking a Tibet train can be inspiring with high altitude valleys, lakes and mountains like Mt. Kailash for its unique plateau. Tibet is on the northern Himalayas, positioned on a plateau region in Asia. Indigenous Tibetan people, along with some other ethnic groups live in Tibet. Tibet is sometimes referred to as the roof of the world, for its high position, with an average elevation of 4,900 meters (16,00 ft).

Tibet remained mysterious and hidden for centuries in the Himalayas. For many, Tibet remained a mysterious land of snows. For many explorers, imperialists and traders, Tibet was a forbidden land of treasures and riches. Many outsiders on spiritual quest admired Tibet as an ideal place hidden with magic and mystery


Tibet was once an independent country, unified under King Songtsan Gampo in the 7th century. Dalai Lamas headed the Tibetan government along with a line of spiritual leaders from the 1640s until 1950s. Today, the People’s Republic of China administers Tibet.

Day 01   Arrival in Lhasa 


Upon your arrival in Lhasa. Redearth tour staff will greet you at Lhasa Airport/Railway to transfer you to hotel. After transferred to hotel, the rest of the day you will be free to wander around city on your own. The first day's well-rest is crucial to acclimatize high altitude. Also a welcome dinner will be held tonigh ( or the second night) 

Day 02     Lhasa


Today you will visit totally 2 attractions in Lhasa suburb.morning, we'll arrange you to see Drepung Monastery or Drak Yerpa. Exactly which one of these two will be decided by our operate team. In the afternoon, we will visit Sera Monastery visit Sera monastery, where you can watch monks debate in the courtyard. And then Kora (pilgrim trail circling a sacred place) that offers a panoramic one-hour walk with views of the Lhasa Valley.As you explore the site, your guide will explain the significance of the picturesque green and gold design, typical of Tibetan architecture. Learn about the 1959 revolt that destroyed some of the monastery structures and caused many surviving monks to seek refuge in Mysore, India, where another Sera Monastery was established..

Day 03     Lhasa City


After breakfast at your hotel , embark on a great sightseeing tour of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Potala Palace and its Jokhang Temple, as well as nearby Barkhor Street. Around midday, your guide will accompany you to a local restaurant for lunch. As you approach Potala Palace, marvel at the 13-story fort, which dominates the Lhasa Valley at an altitude of 12,140 feet(3700 meters), Established in the 7th century during the reign of King Songtsen Gampo.

Potala Palace was built as a winter palace of the Dalai Lama. The complex, built on Red Mountain, covers 101 acres (41 hectares) and includes many sutras and painted scrolls -- a treasure of traditional Tibetan culture and Buddhism.Pass through the massive walled gates and turrets with your guide and visit the private rooms, shrine room and audience hall of the present Dalai Lama on the uppermost level of the White Palace. View the most sacred shrine, the Phakpa Lhakang Temple, as well as the entombed stupas of past Dalai Lamas. Marvel at the Namgyal Monastery assembly hall and its fascinating murals!

Day 04     Departure


Your 4-day Lhasa culture Group Tour ends today. After breakfasts, you will be free for the morning. Our staff will collect you at your hotel to transfer to Lhasa Airport/Railway.
